Fire II

Hey guys! I hope you all enjoyed on the Valentine’s Day, if you didn’t then no need to feel bad as it is not a real holiday, anyways! 😉 Read this little piece, things are going to get interesting very soon!

continued from Fire

“Buy me another beer and I’ll tell you why I kissed you”, she said, winking at me with little twinkle in her eyes.

“Here’s your beer”, I said keeping four bottles of beer in front of her.

“Are you trying to get me drunk?”

I smiled looking at her Katana doubting my judgement, but if she would have wanted me dead then I would have been dead, I reasoned. Picking up a bottle I tried to sound as confident as I could, “No, only ensuring the delivery of my answers.”

“Fair enough. So, what do you want to know?”

“Why did you kiss me?”

“Are you complaining? Did you not like it?”

“NO! That’s not what I meant… I … I mean… Do you go around town kissing strangers often?”

“No, not very often, in fact this is the second time in my life. I did it once more, exactly ten years ago, same day same place and …” she held my hand to check my watch “… at the same time”

Electricity shot through me at her simple touch and I was surprised at its intensity, wondering if she felt the same, probably not. To mask my reaction I asked her, “Interesting, so… who was the guy?”

“Same guy” she said with conviction and her eyes were searching mine for something.

“What! You mean…? How is that possible?” She was definitely kidding, I mean, if something like this would have happened earlier then I would have remembered it.

“So it’s true then, we are in a Mugen Sākuru Noroi”, she muttered to herself and looked worried too.

“What are you saying? I have no idea. You are probably mistaken, I should leave now.”

“It is Japanese for ‘Infinite Circle Curse’. I am not mistaken; I knew you would not remember. Maybe this will help, wait…” she reached at the back of her neck and untied a satin ribbon “…here look at this” she removed a ring from the ribbon and kept it on my hand.

It was my grandmother’s ring! The same which I’ve liked since my childhood, it had ruby studded instead of a diamond and looked like a small kindling fire in the sunlight. It was perfect for her. But I had lost it ten years ago and have regretted ever since.

“How do you have this?”

“It’s kind of a long story.”

“I’ve time.”

Next part
