Hi fellas! How are you doing? I have been away on a break for past two weeks, I didn’t plan to do so but just couldn’t make myself to write. I have been feeling a little confused and scattered lately but I am trying to get over it. I really hope you all are doing fine amid everything.
“Lola! Mom says you’ve lived in Hostel, is that true?”
“Yes, my dear. When I was young, very young, I went to college. There I had to live in a hostel for some years.”
“So, you lived with other students of you age, without parents! Just like Harry in Hogwarts?”
“Ha Ha! Yes, just like Harry Potter. But we had no magic.”
“Oh, did Pops also live with you, in the hostel?”
“Yes, I met your grandfather in college. You know he was the most intelligent one among us all!”
“Will I also get to go to college and live in a hostel?”
“No, Rio, hostels don’t exist anymore. You’ll receive majority of your education through Internet, just like you mother.”
“But it seems so much fun! Why do they don’t exist anymore?”
“Times have changed, sweetheart, it isn’t safe anymore to go around and mingle in social gatherings.”
“Hmm, is that why we have to wear these suits all the time?”
“Yes, we should wear them, always. They keep us safe.”
“Did you wear it when you were little? Did Pops died because he didn’t wear the suit? Do you miss him?”
“Enough, Rio, go to bed now. It’s late. We will continue this tomorrow.”
I wrote this short piece a few days back over coffee. Do you fear what our future holds? Does it gets to you when you dive in it a little beyond surface? Share your fears with me. What bugs you the most about the recent changes?
Stay safe!
What a great story and really thought provoking. I think all of us fear sometimes. But we must try to do out best and upskill ourselves.

Good to have you back bubble. I think I’m afraid of some companies laying off workers to balance their books

It is good to back, thanks, Jude. That is a very valid concern, rising unemployment across the globe is going to be so hard for so many people. I hope it gets better.

It is indeed a possibility where it becomes the new norm to stay away from each other. It is hardly imaginable how, if it happens, will our mind cope up to handle such an unprecedented and unnatural change of social behaviour. But if it lasts long, what we cherish nowadays are ultimately going to be in our memories only to be passed on to next generations through story-telling.

Thank you so much, Mr Roy, for your visit! I am glad to see you here, I hope you are doing well.
I agree with what you say, we will be able to cope with extreme changes, if it comes to that though I hope not. And everything we cherish, independent of the circumstances, doesn’t it always gets passed down through stories?
Cheers 💕🤗

That would be some world. While unimaginable right now, like you said, when you scratch beneath the surface, you do shudder with this plausibility. My fears are more selfish – not be able to see/hug my loved ones for some time and even if I do end up hugging, stressing out for next 14 days. But deep beneath there’s also the feeling of hope that we will overcome this – that this is only temporary and the world will restore the magic of mixing and mingling.

I totally understand, dear, all our fears are due to our loved ones which are not present with us, physically, in this trying time. We wait patiently for the day when we would be able to hug them. Our deep rooted hope is what that has kept us sane. May our prayers get answered 🙏❤️
Wishing you all the love and support 🙏❤️

Thank you for such a reaction, I am really honored. But I am afraid that this piece is not meant to be elongated! If later something comes to mind then I will definitely write it.
I am sorry for turning you down, I hope you understand.
Thanks again

So wonderful to see you back, Akanksha. Well written thought-provoking piece.
And yes, I do… I do fear…. periodically. I love the serenity prayer for times like these: “God[universe/goodness/etc] grand me the power to change the things I can, accept the things I can’t, and the wisdom to know the difference.”
Hugs dear friend. It wasn’t the same around here without you. (And Arushi, who was away for a bit, too. :)) xoxoxo 💖
