Writing short and word-limited pieces for a prompt always helps to get over the writer’s block and it gives a momentary (and much needed) escape to your mind to let those creative juices flowing, freely. Also, writing 20-words doesn’t take much time so you can always go back to your work with a refreshed mind.
Hence, a weekly get together called “Twenty Word Tuesday“. As the name suggests, it will involve writing a twenty-word story for a 1-word prompt given by me. I will post the prompt along with my take on every Tuesday and you will have until the next Tuesday to share your version.
This Week’s Prompt:
Dreams
His reality was different; his day began when she saw him in her dreams nightmares, always lurking in the shadows.
To read more such tiny tales on this week’s prompt, scroll down to the comment section and find the links to amazing 20-word stories written by fantastic writers!
Come, join in! All you need to do is:
- Write an exactly 20-word story (excluding the title) using the prompt (the prompt word may/may not be present in the story).
- Ping-back/link your story to this post, so that everyone (including myself) can read your version.
- Use the banner given below and the tag- TWT on your post, to help locate the story in WP reader.

Remember to write before the next prompt drops in next Tuesday.
Don’t worry! Even if you are late in discovering us, ping-back to this post and I would love to read your tale.
Until next time, Cheers 🙂

My Dreams
When I fall asleep, they start to run wild. Light or dark, they play with or struggle against my consciousness.

Thank you so much, Bulbul 😊
I had fun wracking my brain to come up with these 20 words. It’s a little difficult to write shorter tales, than longer ones 🙈

You are absolutely bang on! These shorter pieces are much trickier to get but they are also so much fun!
I am very glad that you had fun, I did too. Thanks again 🙂

I had fun as well as trouble writing for this. But it was a nice exercise. Thank you for starting this!

I have found the shorter the piece more difficult it is to weave a complete story in it.
So glad to have you on board with this, really appreciate this! Thank you for joining in, Harsh.
I can’t wait to read your take.

I totally agree with you. Shorter pieces are more difficult to write.
It was my pleasure. It was something new for me, so I thought I should give it a try.
Hope you like it.

This is a great idea I am doing so much writing at the moment that I don’t seem to be getting any done for pure fun. Twenty words… I can manage that surely.

Me too, working on the same story takes the fun out of it. I hoped this would provide an escape.
It would be super great if you join in! 🙏💙👍☺️
