*NEW STORY* —The Healer & Her Feast—
Once upon a time, there lived a healer, in a small village located in the remotest part of the Sichuan province. People from nearby places came to her for all their ailments. In return for all her services, they used to bring whatever eatables they could afford from their poor households and even though the contents weren’t always exquisite but they all were extremely delicious and contained a lot of blessings, gratitude, and love for the healer.
With the food received, the healer used to organize a tasteful feast for the children, every night. Her continuous love and generosity for the people, quickly took her name to far and wide places and people, both rich and poor alike, started coming to her seeking help with their sickness. With her growing popularity, grew the taste of her daily feast.
Slowly, with passing time, her mouth-watering feast became the most talked event among the people, even surpassing her healing. Everyone, from long lost places, wanted to get invited to her night’s table. Soon, she started getting offers from the wealthiest of the crowd to spare them a place at the banquet. People started sending her all sorts of things to get her attention, be it gold; silk; coins; expensive artefacts, nothing was off limits.
This disturbed her, greatly, but she decided to let it be the way it was and continued treating the sick with her healing skills. She refused every offer and kept all her feast solely for children. This annoyed the rich merchants very much; they took it as an insult to their status and decided to teach the healer a lesson.
They thought for days, held meetings in their circle and finally, decided that they would stop taking any dish or eatables to the healer. In this way, the exquisiteness and the quantity of the feast will drop quickly and so would her pride or so they thought.
Over the next few months, the only patients who visited the healer were the poor who came with whatever little they had, but with plenty of blessings and love for her service. The quantity of the food received did decrease drastically, but the flavor and the deliciousness grew even more.
