—*New story*—Creases on her bed-sheets—
She laid on her king sized bed, between the rumpled sheets which still smelled of him. Her disheveled hair on the pillow; her spread out arms, like sinew roots trying to find a familiar earth to latch on to; her body twisted in a precarious twist, all told the same story. He was gone.
It could have been hours, days or even weeks; she didn’t know. She stopped registering the passage of time when he stepped out of her life. To her, each second, each day, each month was just a same piece of blob which didn’t have any edges or end. It was just there; it didn’t move. Nothing did.
She could only feel the agony which started from deep within her bones and extended to every single cell in her body. Each drop of blood which flowed in her veins ached from his memories and smelled of his musky scent, intoxicating her in the process and rubbing salt on her wounds.
It would have been so easy for her if he would have left completely, but he was still there; in the creases of her sheets, in the curls of her tresses, in the curve of her waist, etched permanently into the matter of her brain.
She tried so hard to run away from him, from his scent, from his memories, from his voice which constantly rings in her ears, but couldn’t find even a single spot, neither in her house nor in her soul, which was solely hers. In every nook and corner he was there, lurking around the corner, ready to jump out any unguarded second.
Sometimes, she thinks of burning the whole house down, just to get rid of him for a few minutes, but then she stops, as she can’t bear to let him go. She can’t bear to make that ruffled bed, to remove the creases from the sheets or to remove his clothes from the hamper; she can’t. Because that would really mean that he is dead, and she can’t think of living in a world where he doesn’t exist.
