N-Nice (26 X 26)

*New piece*—The Lovely People—(Also, a huge thank you to BlueMallowMelt for the prompt)

Nice is the first thing which comes to my mind whenever I think of her. Of course, I don’t know her all that much but from whatever I have seen of her in the past few months, I am sure of this one detail. She was nice.

I don’t know what that detail says about me or about her. Nowadays, people think of most simple things in the most confusing of manners; they also have the most convoluted of senses to judge things.

Now, I also am not completely sure about that whether I am one of those people or not. You know, I can be heavily biased when describing myself. Whatever may be the case, I can’t seem to find a reason to hate her, whoa! That’s a strong word. I mean, I can’t seem to dislike her. People dislike hate her for the simple reason that she divorced her husband after putting him into jail. I believe she must have had good reasons to do so but, who am I to judge.

People do judge her; they have judged her and passed the verdict. They don’t want her to live in the same society as theirs. They think it will spoil the minds of their off springs. What a joke, really! As if their mind is unspoiled, given the time they spend on internet. But, of course, who am I to judge.

So, should I sign the petition which asks her to vacate the society premises? The petition doesn’t tell the reason of kicking her out with her child; it doesn’t even give her a month’s prior notice; as soon as possible, it says.

In all honesty, I don’t want to sign the petition and want to give a piece of my mind to these lovely people in turn expecting a change of heart, like a movie. But, let’s be real here; I am a bachelor, living on their extended mercy, myself. They don’t like bachelors too as we spoil their children’s mind. Frankly, I don’t know how and I don’t want to go down that lane. It took me months to stop giving a fuck about their opinions.

But, I digress. Since I am a bachelor and a male and thinks that she is nice and don’t want to sign the petition, do you see where I am going with this and where they will go with this? I think you do.

Word Count- 400+, a creative non-fiction piece. Also, this is in reference to the country which I live in; reality in your nation might differ completely. Please, bear with all the mistakes (grammatical/typos), if any, I did the best I could. Looking forward to hear your thoughts.

    1. Oh! That might be beacuse of the lack of a reference point.
Most of the times, Indian society tends to give a hard time to a single mother and renting a descent place to live is very tough at times. And bachelors also don’t get accommodation easily as they prefer to rent their places out to families instead.
      This piece builds on that.
Might sound silly, but is a serious problem here.
Thank you, FF! I am grateful. 🙏🙏🙌
