It was almost midnight and Anika with her grandmother was watching the great conjunction sitting in a sacred grove nearby a small glen. Her grandmother had told her the auspiciousness of this event and she knew of its rareness.
More than 350 years later the two heavenly giants- Jupiter and Saturn were visibly extremely close for the mere mortals to see and this conjunction was even rarer as it coincided with the winter solstice of this year. Sitting there, surrounded with nothing but stars, in the lap of nature she could almost feel the energy fields vibrating with excitement. Her grandmother has always told her that it is in her bloodline to connect with the nature and its energy. She hasn’t believed any of it until now.
There was something different about the atmosphere, the peace, the calmness and the occasion that despite of it being December, she wasn’t cold. She could feel the trees sharing their warmth with her, welcoming her into the community as one of their own. She could see the moon smiling down at her as if blessing her first steps as a child.
Her granny wanted to collect the Yule log for the day after tomorrow’s celebrations and she had insisted Anika to accompany her. She had also said something about how it was time for her initiation; now, she knew what she meant by that.
At first, she had been reluctant and almost afraid of what that might mean, but sitting here had silenced all her fears and had given her a new zest about the whole ordeal. She felt as if she was re-born after rejuvenation. She somehow felt stronger and fearless.
There was a new kind of zeal and hope which she could feel within herself; like a flame burning deep within her, keeping her warm from the inside, giving her hope and strength from its flame, showing her the path with its light.
FUN FACT: The Great Conjunction of Jupiter & Saturn was this year and it coincided with the winter solstice on 23rd December 2020.
Please, bear with all the mistakes (grammatical/typos), if any, I did the best I could. Looking forward to hear your thoughts. You all are most welcome to join the 26 X 26 Writing Challenge!

Whew! So friends, this is it. I am, finally, done with this challenge and while it was fun, but it surely wasn’t easy. Coming up with something new (which is bearable to read) everyday was very difficult especially with the time limit. There were days when I just didn’t want to write but had to. And now I am spent.
I don’t think I am going to write any short story anytime soon. Looking forward to the new beginnings in the new year. I will see you in 2021. Happy New Year!

Well you’re stronger than I am
I started out with a big word count then it all went downhill very fast
So maybe I should’ve taken a bit more time

I don’t know about stronger it was more about the commitment thing since I was the one who started it, it was sort of compulsory for me to see it to the end. 😅🤣😁
But of course, it was a real burnout & you can continue whenever you want.
